The Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, announced new public transport projects that include the expansion of Metrobús routes and the implementation of additional Cablebús lines. During the presentation event of 26 new electric Metrobús units in lines 2, 5, and 6, Brugada highlighted the importance of strengthening the public transport system in the city.
"We need to strengthen the Xochimilco Light Rail, because if it is going to receive a lot of population from the Cablebús, we also need to strengthen the transport units of the Xochimilco-Taxqueña Light Rail," said Brugada. Maria del Rosario Castro Escorcia, director of the Metrobús System, detailed that each of the 26 new units will be equipped with video surveillance equipment and other technological tools to ensure passenger safety.
The creation of two new Metrobús routes, the expansion of Line 7, and the construction of five new Cablebús lines in Mexico City is planned. Line 0 will travel along the Inner Circuit, and Line 8 will extend along the Peripheral Ring, becoming the longest line of Metrobús. Additionally, the expansion of Line 7 at Ejército Nacional was mentioned, and more Metrobús units with electromobility are planned to be incorporated.
Clara Brugada emphasized the importance of electromobility for the city and announced the construction of five new Cablebús lines in Mexico City. The bidding for new lines for Tlalpan, Álvaro Obregón, Magdalena Contreras, Cuajimalpa, and Xochimilco is also projected in the coming years.
